About De Manne
De Manne makes music the way other people keep a journal. A Cameroonian singer-songwriter working across Afro-fusion, Afrosoul, R&B and reggae, he builds songs out of the ordinary weight of a life: the ambition you admit to nobody, the relationships that change your shape, the mornings you decide to keep going.
The sound is deliberately fluid. A record can lean soulful and slow, then turn on a rhythm that could only have come from home. What holds it together is not a formula but a centre of gravity: melody first, feeling before polish, and an African foundation that never has to announce itself.
The Journey
He came up independent and has stayed that way, releasing on his own terms since 2022. Two EPs, a run of singles, three awards, and a catalogue of videos built with collaborators rather than a machine. The work has travelled further than the budget behind it, gathering millions of views and a listenership that reaches well past Cameroon.
The Purpose
What he writes about has widened as he has: identity and where you're from, masculinity and what it's allowed to look like, purpose, resilience, the private negotiation between who you are and who you're trying to be. He does not pretend to have all the answers. He just tells the truth, and he says it loud.
The current chapter, This Industry Needs Me, is the clearest statement of that so far: an artist declining to wait for permission, and building his own world instead.
